In 1991, Anton Testino attended Morris County Vocational Tech in Denville, NJ for culinary arts. He graduated at the top of his class. He won many amateur competitions. In 1992, he was accepted to Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. There he furthered his education until 1994 The eager chef in 1995 opened his first restaurant, Antonio's Pizza, Pasta and More. It was located on Route 5 in Edgewater, NJ. He was very successful for a year and a half when Edgewater underwent major construction hurting his business forcing him to close in 1998. Testino then worked at several restaurants in Northern New Jersey continuing his hands-on education. In 2003 Chef Anton Started ALT CATERING , a private chef company serving fortune 500 company's, witch aloud him to build a large following based out Manhattan NYC. 2009, when he worked at his family's restaurant, Tony's Touch of Italy, witch was located in Wayne New Jersey, Where he became known for his unique style and combinations of food throughout the community and with their support, he tried out for Food Network's Chopped. Anton made it on Season 5 . In October of 2010, the episode "When Octopuses Attack" aired which ended up being one of the most controversial episodes and was removed off you tube .With his national exposure, he was able to give back to the community and contribute his time for charity work. Cooking for Kids at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is just one of the charities he is proud to be a part of for 10 years. Witch opened the doors to meet and work with one of his childhood icons Lidia Bastianich who he adored and impressed as she made it clear to him when she asked for seconds with his style of Italian Cuisine. In 2012, Testino auditioned for Gordan Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, and in March 2014, his season aired. He competed against the largest group of chefs in the show's history, which he excelled. He advanced to the end, never loosing a single's Cooking competition. He became known as the fearless New Jersey chef. When Asked how was hell's Kitchen (Chef Anton Quotes I Had a lot of great moments with Chef Ramsay but the greatest moment not just on the show but of my Culinary Career was when they had Italian night at Hells kitchen and I blew away one of the greatest if not the great chef in the world Wolfgang Puck when he gave me a perfect score and said my food reminded him of Italy and smelled like Sothern Italy were my mother was born (Bari Italy )
After appearing on the show, St. Joseph's honored him as a celebrity spokesperson For Cooking for Kids Charity He is also now affiliated with Habitat for Humanity and American Homeless Association. In 2014, Anton went back to where he started, Morris County Tech, to donate his time to give the students culinary demonstrations and present motivational speaking events. In 2014, Anton opened a café in Waldwick NJ called mulberry street café - which quickly out grew with his one of a kind sandwiches, along with his risotto dishes. In 2015 he inspired 15 year old student name Nicolas Capone to attend a school culinary program. Chef Anton Saw Great talent in him and began to mentor him, About 6 month later Nicolas auditioned for Food networks chopped teen tournament which aired in 2016. Chef Anton was So proud of him he made a guest appearance in his bio on the show for support. all though Nick did not win, chef Anton knew he would still become a great chef one day. in 2016 , Chef Anton Opened the doors to his newest adventure witch he named after his son Axton Axton's By Chef Anton Testino . Axton's, is a one of a kind Rustic Italian Seafood - Steak House Famous for it's Risotto's in Northern New Jersey. (Voted Best Italian Restaurant in Northern New Jersey 2021 ) making top 30 list in state 2017 Chef Anton Trained Nicolas when he competed on The Rachel Ray Cooking Computation (Cooking Your Way To Culinary School) he won first place And followed his mentors foot steps to CIA, 2019 Chef Anton opened Donna's Pizza By Chef Anton Testino He took his family's pizza recipe and combined it with his café sandwich's and created a entire vegan line of meals witch has once again made him stand out from everyone else. Only here will you find his extraordinary and unique take on Specialty Pizzas and Signature Flat-Iron Steak Sandwiches along with numerous Plant-Based Vegan options.
Anton Testino was born on August 26, 1973 in Weehawken, NJ to a chef father and mother Francesca who was from Bari, Italy. His father left his life at an early age, leaving Anton, his older sister and mother to fend for themselves. His mom was an Italian immigrant with no education who had to take on numerous jobs to survive. And had to move Anton and his sister throughout NJ including Newton, Sussex, North Bergen and Paterson. As a teen, Anton and his family finally settled in Pompton Lakes, NJ. Testino worked at a local pizzeria at the age of 12 to help his mom out. He was stationed at the front window of the restaurant making pizza to draw attention to the business. He was diagnosed with a comprehension deficit disorder, dyslexia and ADHD at an early age so when he entered High school, football helped him get through the tough years. That was until he was injured his senior year. Anton turned back to what he knew best, Food.
